Computer Networks and Data Communication is a field of study that examines the principles of networking, methods for analyzing, designing, building, operating, and managing network systems, from local area networks to global wide-area networks. Simultaneously, this field provides students with advanced skills in developing applications on networked computer systems from intermediate to advanced levels.
In this field, you will understand and master popular network services such as the World Wide Web (www), email, file sharing, and multimedia, as well as the latest advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, network programming and automation, and techniques for ensuring network security and information privacy.
Computer Networks and Data Communication is a suitable field for those who enjoy exploring and mastering technology, and communicating with people across the globe simply through a computer or phone with an internet connection. Simultaneously, with an understanding of computer networks, students can build their own specialized space on the Internet.
Studying this major, students are equipped with foundational knowledge of information technology, computer networks and communications, IoT, and cloud; specialized knowledge in the “Computer Networks” orientation such as: network administration, network security, wireless networks, network analysis and design, network programming… and in the “Communications” orientation such as: optical communication, wireless communication, mobile communication, and multimedia communication. In addition, students are equipped with skills in analyzing, simulating, integrating, and designing systems from discrete to complex; skills in testing, maintaining, and repairing communication and computer network equipment; and skills in installing and operating communication and computer network equipment.

The Vietnam Academy of Agriculture (formerly the University of Agriculture I), established on October 12, 1956, is a leading multidisciplinary center for training high-quality human resources, research, and technology transfer in Vietnam. The Academy continuously focuses on building a team of highly qualified and dedicated lecturers, including those teaching in the Information Technology department. The Faculty of Information Technology currently has 42 lecturers directly teaching specialized knowledge to students in the Computer Networks and Data Communication program (including 9 PhDs and 33 Master’s degree holders). 100% of the lecturers are trained at universities in countries with advanced scientific backgrounds such as France, Germany, Australia, and Japan.

In 2020, the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture began enrolling and training students in the Computer Networks and Data Communication major, developed from the Computer Networks and Web specialization (since 2015) within the Information Technology major, which has been offered since 2002. The Academy aims to train generations of graduates in Computer Networks and Data Communication according to international standards and the practical needs of businesses.
